Patina of Brassic

by BRASSIC

Christopher DeBarr This is sophisticated strutting in a classic brass band setting so familiar to me as a New Orleans resident! Rolling, funkified, yet thoughtfully arranged with their own vibe. Outstanding & fun. I can’t wait to blare it LOUD from my car stereo as I ride thru the Crescent City❤️🔥💯 Favorite track: Brasstech.

  • Patina of Brassic (handmade CD)
Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

The 6th Musilogue album is ”Patina of Brassic” by brass and drums band BRASSIC.
In advance of the normal CD release in March, we are releasing a special handmade CD.
“BRASSIC” is composed of 6 brass players and 1 drummer.
Unlike most bands, there are no chord instruments like piano or guitar.
There is no bassist supporting them either.

    Only brass and drums.

The origin of “BRASSIC” was a drinking conversation between Saxophonist Takeshi Kurihara and Musilogue founder Ryota Nozaki.”I’d like to hear what kind of sound a band like that would create.”

The formation of “BRASSIC” is similar to a New Orleans band but also subtly different.
What kind of music this unit can produce, and how it can be put together, is BRASSIC’s challenge.

The 6 brass players appear on the BRASSIC’s album “Patina of Brassic”.They are sax players Takeshi Kurihara and Junya Kondo, Hiromu Takahashi, trumpeter Yochi Masago, trombonist Daisuke Maeda, and on sousaphone Mayuko Hiraki.
As well as supporting artists such as Jazztronik and Soil&Pimp Sessions, Takeshi Kurihara is also composing and performing independently. The animal themed Musilogue sleeve art is also all by Kurihara.Junya Kondo is a member of the brass 3 piece “Fire Horns” in addition to supporting a number of other artists.Hiromu Takahashi has joined in Musilogue’s the 3rd album “The Rain of Secret Color”.A former member of funk band “Osaka Monorail”, Yochi Masago is currently active in a number of fields.
Daisuke Maeda is an active member of the world famous Latin band “Orquesta de la luz”.As a woman player, Mayuko Hiraki is rare in the world of sousaphone. The sousaphone is a large brass instrument with a bass sound, which is carried on the shoulder. Her performance will be something to look out for in this concert.
It’s not too much to say that BRASSIC’s become a reality because of her.
Finally, drums are provided by Shigekazu Otake of popular band “Cro-magnon”.
The brass band phenomenon is taking off across the world.
Even in the middle of that boom, without doubt, this funky, jazzy, happy album shines.
11 tunes are included in it.

This handmade CD is signed by all the members of the band.
The quantity is limited, so please buy early to avoid disappointment.
